September 29 – October 1, 2016
Director of Marketing & Communications
Yardley, PA, September 15, 2016 — Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) will present the 45th Annual International Conference from September 29 to October 1, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. The Conference is the premier event for the insurance industry to engage the next generation of professionals with 50 colleges and universities sending 500 of their best and brightest undergraduates to attend. GIS leads the insurance industry in developing and sustaining a talent pipeline, and the Annual Conference is the largest and most significant opportunity for companies to connect with and recruit these insurance and risk management students.
The Conference convenes top collegiate talent with a wide range of industry representation for three days of professional development, including the largest insurance-specific career fair in North America, with more than 60 exhibiting organizations, and over 300 job interviews scheduled. In addition, over 25 educational sessions, leadership seminars, and hot topic forums led by industry professionals will be offered to attendees.
This year’s Conference includes several industry-leading features:
- It is one of only three locations and events in the United States participating in the global Dive In Festival, an industry-wide event highlighting the business case for diverse and inclusive workplaces and providing practical ideas and inspiration for how to bring about positive change. GIS is proud to offer programming at the conference to engage its student body and partner organizations in this business-critical conversation.
- Asserting its position at the forefront of the talent gap conversation and the insurance careers movement, GIS will inaugurate the Recruiters Roundtable, bringing together recruiters from global and local companies throughout North America to discuss industry best practices, shares ideas, and hear directly from GIS students and alumni on the overall recruiting process.
- Through a partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) and in conjunction with GIS’s Annual Week of Giving, a community service project is aimed at gathering professional attire to help less fortunate people thrive in work and in life. This project supports the Dress for Success organization.
Both GIS and its Annual Conference continue to demonstrate strong growth. In 2015, the Conference drew over 575 students and advisors from 53 colleges and universities throughout North America, plus 75 sponsors, 65 exhibitors, and over 250 industry representatives. Student attendees are preparing for careers as risk managers, actuaries, underwriters, brokers, consultants, agents and more in all areas of the insurance, risk management, and actuarial science industries.
