International Chapter Award Applications
National Chapter Awards
To help guide each collegiate chapter towards improving specified areas of performance, five additional awards have been created in the following categories: Membership Development, Chapter Management, Community Service, Alumni Relations and Public Relations (these will be awarded to all chapters that submit and meet the required criteria for each award).
Black and Gold Award
Grand Chapter has created the “Black and Gold Award” to encourage each chapter to develop projects and programs considered creative, and which serve as an example for all other local chapters to follow. The award will be presented to any chapter for single achievements or events considered exceptional and possible only through extensive planning, organization and participation by a significant number of the chapter’s members.
Individual Award Applications
Alan C. Williams Leadership Award
The Alan C. Williams Leadership Award has been established to recognize the one individual member of Gamma Iota Sigma that sets the best example for all other members and is our best “ambassador” to the insurance, risk management, and/or actuarial science industries at the international level as well as at the local and regional levels. In other words, the Alan C. Williams Leadership Award is the highest honor an individual member can receive from the Grand Chapter. Further, the award will be presented only when a qualified candidate exists. The scholarship recipient is announced the Annual International Conference and the winner is presented with a check for $2,000. Click on the application below for more information.
Anita Benedetti Award

Elizabeth Lange/Microsoft Scholarship Application
The scholarship is intended to recognize a member of a Gamma Iota Sigma collegiate chapter best exemplifying the personal character and values of Elizabeth Lange. Successful chapter, family and community contributions will hold a higher priority for the recipient than solely individual recognition. The scholarship recipient will receive a monetary award. Applicants must be nominated by their local chapter, including a letter of recommendation from the Chapter Advisor and the Chapter President. The nominee must also submit an essay about their individual efforts.
Thomas J. Miles Award
The Thomas J. Miles Award was created in 2007 to honor the contributions to Gamma Iota Sigma of Tom Miles, professor emeritus of Central Michigan University and longtime advisor of the Nu Chapter. In recognition of Dr. Miles’ career, the Miles Award has been established to recognize the one individual member of Gamma Iota Sigma that best represents the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service exemplified by Dr. Miles. The recipient shall be an actuarial science student, and the award shall be presented only when a qualified candidate exists.
