2015 Award Winners

Gamma Iota Sigma is proud to announce the 2014-2015 Chapter Award and Individual Scholarship recipients.  This year’s awards were announced at the Annual International Awards Dinner on Friday, October 9, 2015 during the 44th Annual International Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

 

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Alan C. Williams Award

Recognizes the one individual member of Gamma Iota Sigma that sets the best example for all other members and is our best “ambassador” to the insurance, risk management, and/or actuarial science industries at the international level as well as at the local and regional levels.

Special Achievement Award

This award recognizes one student’s extraordinary leadership and dedication to Gamma Iota Sigma.

Warren L. Weeks Award

This scholarship is given to encourage individual member leadership and the furthering of fraternity goals. It is a tribute to the memory of an outstanding teacher and insurance industry leader.

Thomas J. Miles Actuarial Award

Recognizes an individual member of Gamma Iota Sigma that best represents the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service exemplified by Dr. Miles.

Gerald L. Smith, Jr. Alumni Scholarship

The Gerald L. Smith, Jr. Alumni Scholarship was created to allow the alumni of Gamma Iota Sigma to financially compensate a student member by fostering a research activity.  It is named in the memory of Gerald L. Smith, Jr., an alumnus of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Indiana State University and a true ambassador for GIS.
